At Mountain Freedom we’ve done away with the rigid “package tour format” and opened up our range of activities here on the Isle of Skye and so you can build your own perfect outdoor holiday, that suits your needs.
Firstly, you can choose your own accommodation to suit your needs and budget. Our lists of recommended accommodation providers have something that’s just right for everyone.
Then there’s our activities…… we can draw elements from our wide range and put together a varied programme especially for you.
One of our most popular walking holidays on Skye, our Classic Walking programme runs every day from April to October with a varied selection of moderately graded walks suitable for everyone for novice hikers right through to regular hill walkers. Our groups are fun and lively, and we tailor the programme to suit the weather and the makeup of the group. You can come and join us whenever you want, for as long as you want.
Alongside our Classic Walking programme we offer a whole range of other options – if you’re fancying a more leisurely day with more time to watch wildlife, take photos and soak in the scenery then our Walking with a Camera programme offers just that. Of course we still get out and about in the amazing Skye landscape doing some of the best walking the area has to offer, we just allow more time as we do it so you can pursue your own passions.
If the weather is looking good and you feel like pushing yourself a little, you could always opt onto one of our more challenging programmes for a day or two – why not attempt one of the dramatic Cuillin peaks or give yourself an introduction to scrambling or climbing with our Skye Munros, Ridges and Scrambles or Skye Classic Climbs progammes. You could even build in an overnight wild camp experience – we have all the equipment and expertise you need to turn your walking holidays on Skye into real adventures!
Of course, your holiday is about more than being out and about in the fresh air. It’s easy to build in sightseeing activities and other experiences that don’t require boots and waterproofs! We can arrange for you to visit Dunvegan Castle, have a meal at one of Skye’s amazing fine dining restaurants, or check out the wealth of art and craft activities and galleries on the island.
It’s perfectly easy for couples, groups, or families to choose different activity options if they wish, which is great if one of you wants to push themselves a little and another wants a more leisurely day.
We also make sure your walking holidays on Skye are lively and sociable. Our recommended accommodation is arranged so that it’s easy to get together with our other guests in the evenings for a fun meal or a drink or two in a local pub, perhaps taking in some traditional music sessions or other events from Skye’s active cultural programme.
Our flexible approach and range of activities means you can choose to do exactly what you want to do and when you want to do it. Our local knowledge and experience in putting together walking holidays on Skye for all sorts of people with widely differing interests and ambitions means that we can ensure that it’s just right, for you!
