Join a small informal group on some world class high altitude trekking in the Cordillera Blanca. Main itinerary is of 3 weeks duration with an optional week’s extension visiting Cusco and Machu Picchu. Our aim is to complete the Santa Cruz circuit (4 days) as an acclimatisation trek and then attempt either the Alpamayo Circuit (9 days) or the circuit of the stunning Cordillera Huayhuash. We are aiming for an informal small scale expedition type trip rather than a more regimented fixed package approach. All 3 of these treks are world class, and we have a lot of experience taking groups on them. Although not super demanding in terms of distances, terrain, etc, and achievable by most folk with a little walking experience, the Peruvian Cordillera is a high altitude destination so it helps to be reasonably fit for this! Nevertheless, our itinerary is structured so as to allow plenty of time for acclimatisation to altitude.
This trip will take the form of an “Escorted Journey” where Mountain Freedom will act as expedition co-ordinator. We’ll be using our extensive network of Peruvian contacts, built up over many years, to help us out fit out this Peru trekking expedition with local staff- cooks, muleteers, etc. Participants will pay into a kitty system to secure these services, and will be free to choose their own accommodation whilst staying in towns before and after the trekking phases.
There will be an option to stay on in Peru for a further week which will be spent visiting Cusco, the sacred valley and Machu Picchu.
Please enquire for prices.
Dates: 18 May – 7 June 2019 (Machu Picchu extension 7 – 15 June)
