Spanish walking club visit the Highlands

Last week we were very happy to host a couple of days for 30 members of the Spanish the Club de Montaña Castellón (Valencia) who were spending a week here in the Highlands, organised by our colleagues at Explora Escosia. The weather was beautiful and we took full advantage of it. On Monday we navigated the winding road to Elgol in a 50 seater coach, from where our friends at Misty Isle Boat Trips took us across Loch Scavaig. Our walk for the day was a Cuillin classic – from Loch Coruisk to Sligachan by way of the Druim Hain and Glen Sligachan. The day was so sunny that by mid afternoon the Glen was warming up considerably and even the Spanish were getting a bit hot and thirsty. Of course the bar at the Sligachan Hotel was on hand to aid rehydration!

The following day we made our way over to Torridon, enjoying equally splendid conditions, and hiked up into the hills on the south side of Loch Torridon, with a picnic lunch by Loch an Eoin beneath the peak of Maol Chean Dearg. This time we were fed + watered by the Torridon Inn, and enjoyed a visit to the amazing kitchen gardens of the Loch Torridon Hotel.

All in all a most pleasant couple of days. Thanks to the Club de Montaña Castellón and everyone at Explora Escosia
